ResalesBoise, Idaho: Housing Picks Up
The largest metropolitan area in Idaho, Boise is a recreational hub situated on the western edge of the Rocky Mountains and the edge of the high desert.
"The city of Boise is part of a thriving metropolitan area of 450,000 people," explains Realtor Tom Zumwalt. "Nestled in the Treasure Valley against the majestic foothills, Boise is rich in history, cultural events, public art and galleries, sporting events and fine dining. Boise is the gateway to exceptional recreational opportunities, including: world famous white-water rafting, Nordic and Alpine skiing, snowboarding, hunting, fishing, backpacking and camping. Hiking, biking, and fishing are popular activities right in the metro area. Boise has thousands of acres of open space around the city. The foothills of the Rockies provide trails for hikers and bikers of all abilities. The Boise River Greenbelt is a great place for biking, roller-blading or a casual stroll."
Zumwalt adds, "Business is picking up more and homes are selling. The market is very active right now. The interest rate is low and it is a good time to buy or sell. Last year in Ada County the total number of homes on the market increased, the number of homes sold increased, the median price increased, the average price increased, and the days on the market increased. The days on the market have only increased by 2 days."

Says Realtor Linda Hilton, "Boise and the surrounding communities are located in a valley between two mountain ranges. The outdoors provides many activities for summer and winter recreation."
"The home sales market for the Boise area is still going strong," suggests Hilton. "Many new subdivisions are planned in all price ranges. With interest rates the lowest in years this is a great time to buy your first home or move up to something bigger."
"Beautiful Boise Idaho has it all, Rivers, Mountains, Sports and happy people!," exclaims Realtor Kathi Stewart. "The sales market has slowed but is steady. The best buys are in the new construction homes with the sellers entertaining offers that include them paying some of the buyers" closing costs for offers near the list price. Existing home owners are noticing this and have become more interested in assisting the buyers also. The price average is steady with no real down trend at this point."
